On Baltra Island there is a tiny port we saw from the bus, there are also random other remains of buildings the United States had built while occupying Baltra in World War II. The United States built the airport and base on Baltra to protect the Panama Canal, because after the bombing of Pearl Harbor they thought it was the next target.
